Our Teachers

Veronika Roza-Snitter, Lewes

I was born in South-East Hungary, where I had a musical education,  all the way to Teacher-training.

As a child, I was very lucky to enjoy lots of fresh produce from our large garden, that my parents and Grandmother grew every year. I helped with planting weeding, watering and best of all, harvesting fruit and veggies.  We also kept chickens, and one year even a couple of goats. This way I  learnt where food comes from, before appearing on our plates

I lived in East Sussex for 15 years and worked as an Early Years Professional Practitioner in two nurseries, before starting my own family. This is where I met Amanda Grant, when her 3 children came to our nursery. I’ve gained lots of inspiration in the past years form Amanda’s enthusiasm to teach children to cook, from her wonderful cookery books and recipes.

I’ve also worked for many years as a self-employed Holistic Thearapist. I now live in Newhaven, East Sussex, with my husband and 5-year-old daughter, who also love to cook and eat tasty, healthy food. Apart from being a mum and housewife, I work part-time in a local nursery, help out at my daughter’s school and volunteer with local health based community projects.

I ran Cook School at Denton Island Community Kitchen earlier this year, now excited to have it started within Harbour Primary School. I am passionate about: doing my part in raising a healthy, happy next generation, giving children positive childhood experiences, teaching them about health and wellbeing in fun and enjoyable ways, be it music, art, exercise or healthy food choices and good cooking.

I am also passionate about keeping active and in close touch with nature, and caring for our planet. I love to be outdoors, whether busy working or relaxing in our garden or going on long country walks and enjoying watching wildlife. I love spending time with my family and friends.

First food I cooked was: scrambled eggs, toast and tea.

My favourite pizza toppings are: peas, sweetcorn and cheese.

My favourite jacket potato topping: butter, sea salt and cheese; and on cold days: a spicy bean mix in a tomato sauce.

I enjoy my job teaching various cooking, baking and decorating skills to children and adults. I particularly love to teach cooking to children as I feel this is a life skill and has to be taught young, they need to be taught what is healthy eating and how simple and easy it can be to make your own healthy meals.
