Watch Cook School's Jack and Joe each week make a Cook School recipe, see how they do it and then have a go yourselves at home.
This week Jack and Joe make flour tortillas using only three ingredients, watch them here and then have a go yourselves. Send us pics of your tortillas and we’ll post them on the site. Stay tuned for what Jack and Joe will be making next…*Stay safe in the kitchen, remember to always ask an adult before you cook and make sure an adult is with you when you use the oven, hob and a knife.
Equipment
- bowl
- measuring jug
- tablespoon
- frying pan
- tongs or a fork, to turn the tortilla over in the pan
Ingredients
- 500g plain flour
- 300ml water
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- pinch of salt
1
Weigh 500g plain flour into a bowl. Measure 300ml water.
2
Add 3 tablespoons olive oil to the water. Add a pinch of salt to the flour.
3
Pour the water and oil into the flour and then using either a spoon or your hands (like Jack), stir to mix it all together.
4
Knead the mixture for a few mins and then divide the mixture in half, then half again to make quarters and then split each piece in half again to make 8.
5
Roll each piece to the size of a dinner plate. Heat a heavy based frying pan and fry a tortilla for a minute on one side, until slightly golden brown. Turn over with tongs and cook on the other side.

Add your favourite fillings - we love Linda McCartney's Vegetarian Chorizo & Red Pepper Sausages, sliced tomatoes, lettuce leaves and sliced peppers.
