Our Mission

Our aim is to help address the issue of childhood obesity and the dominance of junk food on the high street and in advertising by teaching them about healthy seasonal eating, and giving them the confidence to prepare simple meals themselves.

About the course:

Created by award winning children’s food writer and author Amanda Grant, Cook School is a pioneering project offering accessible and affordable after-school cookery lessons for primary and secondary school children nationwide. With support from people and funds from across the industry we can make sure that these classes are available to all!

This School is about getting children excited about a wide variety of food and teaching them how to cook. Our simple, seasonal recipes, featuring delicious dishes from all over the world, have been written by Amanda and designed to be suitable for each school term and age group. Our lessons have been carefully planned to give children confidence in the kitchen, a sense of achievement, and an understanding of and love for good food, in a safe environment.

The classes are fun and inspirational, and offer children an introduction to eating well and cooking skills that will be useful through school, university, and beyond.

Building a community of children and their families who cook, eat and share their recipes and ideas.

Our classes are led by passionate home and school cooks and chefs, who have been carefully chosen from the local community. Our team are ready to inspire children and show them how to cook easy meals.

We encourage Cook School students to be ambassadors for change by sharing their pictures, ideas and own recipes, and by inspiring others to cook and enjoy the food they’ve learned about.

Providing everything from tasty recipes and attention-grabbing tutorial videos, to the right equipment and enthusiastic teachers, the full Cook School package offers everything children need for lessons that are creative, inspiring and, above all, fun!
